Hey all,

I want a little guidance from you all regarding my project topic. I'm doing MBA in HR, and I have to prepare a project report. Currently, I am taking training in a software company. Please suggest some project topics related to a software company.

Please respond and guide me. I am waiting for some help.

Thanks

You have to give more information like the size of the firm, the time available to you in the company, what access will the company give, what problems, if any, the company is facing or would like you to solve, etc. Otherwise, it will be like "stabbing in the dark". Is there a topic that you feel passionate about that will be of interest to the company?

Have a nice day.

Hello Simhan,

It's a newly established software company, and there's no HR streamlining yet. You can say HR functioning is in the process. The training period is one month, and so far, I have been tasked by my boss to work on the employee ACR, attendance regulations, and welcoming new employees, etc. Since I have no one to guide me on the exact area I should choose for my project report, it's all foggy for me. So please help or guide.

Thanks

Hi Aditi,

You can work on the project related to Employee Satisfaction Survey and Organizational Climate Survey of the company. This will provide you with insights into the strengths and weaknesses of the company. You can identify what factors motivate employees, understand their difficulties within the organization, and delve into all the minor details concerning the employees. Hopefully, you can address some of the issues faced by the employees.

Thanks

You can think about it...

In the recent past, there was a full-page article in the Economic Times on how Wipro tried implementing TPS (Toyota Production System) in their company. Now, at least techies will admit that yes, TPS can be modified and further made applicable to them.

Thanks, Prish, for the suggestion, but I have a little confusion here. How can this topic be considered with a small software company? If I have to choose this project topic, what is the exact core area which I have to project? Please shed some light....

Aditi

Dear Prish,

I've read about the TPS (Toyota Production System) and I found some points that highlight its benefits. Companies that pursue and emulate TPS best practices have seen much success as a result of this highly effective manufacturing philosophy. Some of the benefits include:

- Identify and enhance customer perceived value
- Decrease waste and costs in the manufacturing process
- Improve product quality and on-time delivery
- Develop a competitive, world-class manufacturing operation

Now, it is clear how beneficial TPS can be. However, I still have some queries about how to conduct my project on it. What materials should I collect and study to compile my project report? In short, I understand the topic and its benefits but I am unsure about the approach to take.

Please reply.

Aditi

It would be advisable for you to address Associate Feedback regarding the HR as a Business Unit within the enterprise. Your insights will assist HR in strengthening themselves as a cohesive unit. You can potentially formalize some of their processes by offering suggestions in the report that you will be handling.

HR can learn best from the weaknesses of the enterprise by providing solutions to problems. The business unit tackles various issues within an enterprise through traits such as negotiation, liaising, training, recruiting, payroll administration, associate policy framework, performance appraisals, induction, orientation programs, smoother associate transition, building employee relationships, and team management. In essence, planning the human element for an enterprise.

You can also draft policies that would genuinely benefit the company as they expand, enabling you to grasp the intricacies of the trade. Maintain a suggestive tone in your communication. Encourage HR to adopt policies or frameworks that are mutually beneficial for both the associates, prospective associates, and the enterprise as a whole.

In a recent full-page article in the Economic Times, Wipro was highlighted for attempting to implement TPS (Toyota Production System) in their company. This demonstrates that even techies are recognizing that TPS can be adapted and applied to their domain.
