I need help designing the overseas compensation policy for our employees traveling abroad for short and long terms. I need assistance with the following:
1) How will we pay employees traveling for one month or longer? Will we pay them per diem, actual overseas accommodation costs, and their Indian salary?
2) For long-term assignments exceeding six months, what salary components will we provide for the periods spent in India and abroad? Will we continue to pay per diem, actual overseas accommodation costs, and the Indian salary for the extended duration, or will it be per diem and actual overseas accommodation only?
Please share the general company practices followed in this regard.

Dear Sunil,
Would you be deploying your employees at the onsite location? Are they traveling to attend training? Alternatively, would they join the US-based LLC to work for that duration? It may remain an internal transfer, but the employees are transferred with a new appointment letter. Please do share these administrative details for us to respond with a suitable compensation structure.

Sending you the standard terms and conditions for international assignment; this is only on an employment visa. Kindly check the attachment.
On a business visa means they are on a business tour, and the host company will look after the housing and repatriation if necessary. In addition to this, Quality of Living/Location Premium may differ from country to country. They will take full responsibility during the stay in the host country.
