I was recently selected by a company for a search engine marketing profile via an HR recruitment firm. The company even released my offer letter; they actually sent me a soft copy of it. I had to join my new company on the 15th of April. So, I resigned from my old job on the 15th of March as we had a one-month notice period. Everything was going smoothly until today. I received a call from my new company stating that they cannot recruit me as the project on which I was supposed to work is not with them anymore. Now I am in a fix. I have lost my new job, and I have already resigned from my old one. My last working day in my old company is the 14th of April. Please advise me on what I should do.

I am sorry to hear that you are in a fix. I think you have two choices:

1. You can try talking to the HR of the new company. Based on the offer given, you quit your previous job, and it's their responsibility to take it further. Tell them that you are open to learning and working on any platform and negotiate with them. I think they need to compensate you with one month's pay or something that would help you financially to stabilize.

2. If you are in the good books of your old employer, I am sure they may consider your situation and re-hire you (provided you are okay with it).

Thank you for your swift reply. I will talk to my manager about my resignation and also get in touch with my new employer.

And to add one more point, everyone has to learn from their mistakes; however, it is important not to repeat them. So, in the future, you may switch over to a new company, and they would roll out your offer, but please ensure to do complete homework about the progress of the company. Go to their website, check their partners, recent media reports, the financial stability, and other things. All of this should happen before you submit your resignation, so the preparation should start from the time you apply for your job. By the time you receive your offer and submit your resignation, you should be confident about your move and not end up in such a mess.

Hope this helps.
