Hi,
I am interested in transitioning to a core HR role as I already have 2 years of experience in recruitment after completing my MBA in HR. I am looking to pursue a career in HR-Generalist profile. Can you please suggest how I can proceed and what I should study to prepare for this generalist role?
Thank you,
Priya

Hi Priya,
I found you again with a new thread. Well, Priya, you need to learn as much as you can about the 7 stars of HR, i.e., staffing, performance appraisals, compensation and benefits, training and development, employee and labor relations, safety and health, and human resource research. Your strong knowledge of these HR functions can give you the direction you want to achieve in your life. Keep updating yourself about them, work hard, and make the best of it.
I don't think I need to tell you here how to study and learn about these functions or how to gather information about them because you need to do it yourself. This is the time when you can test your skills. Find ways to make the best use of them. We are all here to assist you in any way possible.
Best of luck

Thanks Anil,
It would be great if you could send me some details on the same. I have also downloaded a lot of information from the internet and have attended a workshop on topics like PF, TDS, ESI, Payroll, etc. That was also very helpful.
Regards,
Priya

For HR Generalist Profile, you must have knowledge of:
1- PF, ESI, GRATUITY, WC ACT, CNV ACT, CLA ACT, FACTORY ACT mainly.
2- Leave management, Performance Appraisal, L & D.
3- Employee Relations, motivation, Communication, etc.
4- Industrial Relations.
5- General Security, Time office & Admin Functions.
6- Wages & Salary Administration.
7- Legal Drafting, Disciplinary actions.
8- Compliance of Various Acts within due dates.
For all these, you can learn from reference books, subscribe to LLR, FLR, and keep yourself updated with the latest amendments in Acts. Professional HR sites can provide you with problem-solving skills if you read different threads and posts daily.
Mainly, you should try yourself and can also take help from seniors. When you start doing it on your own, you will be confident and definitely achieve success and recognition in the HR profession.
