Dear Friends,
What is the impact of celebrating national safety day in industrial accident prevention ?
Why in industries safety alone conducts celebrations ? Why not other departments like manufacturing, procurement, finance, welfare organize celebrations if celebrations are going to motivate employees ?

If other depts start celebrating the event may be the impact may not come to expected levels. The safety dept role is first a teacher, then a policemen. The impression of the dept. has a hold in the operating parameters, thats why its like a teacher only who can teach, not a tailor or person from some other profession.

Dear Sir
According to me just only celebrating a day for the sake of safety not helping in Incident Prevention. Then why companies celebrating National Safety Day. Just for publicity. Few companies inviting government members and media coverage , etc for the same. All for eye washing and just to show that we are taking care of safety.
Other departments not celebrating because no such national day is dedicated like 4th March s for Safety.
Priority in typical indian industry goes like Production, Cost, Quality and finally Safety. All the first three the top management is close monitoring and getting all work done well. No need of wrong publicity in this account whereus management getting one day to shows its commitment to shows that Safety s our first priority, thats why widely celebrating 4th march. But in real it gets last priority.
Look forward to hear your views.

Dear All,
I agree to the views of Dipil, as it is also correct. Most of the industries are doing it for the sake of media coverage.
My views -
Safety department takes the lead for the safety intiatives for the smooth operation of the plan.
So, its their ownership to take the lead on the Safety Day and arrange for all.
Ipact - by arranging the competitions & providing gifts, atleast we can motivate the safety among the employees & workers. Most of them take part in these competitions for gifts.
While taking part in these competitions, they will think on a postive manner as the result should be Safety. Becoz of this thinking, atleast in the similar situation they can act proactively.
