Dear All,
I am lavanya kumar,my query is I got offered in a reputed bank and they are asking for relieving letter. but my present employer is saying the relieving letter will be issued after 3-4 months.I have given the resignation letter to my manager. Is there is any problem for joining in to the new organisation. I am in probation in the present employer and i am having all my pay slips and the appointment letter. Can I explain the situation to the new employer and can ask for time to submit the relieving letter and can join immediately

At the outset congratulations for your new job, changing the company during the probation period generally doesnt Fetch any documentation. Still, it depends on your current company policies. Reliving letter is required to show the proof and tenure of you working with the organization is valid and geniuine. Otherwise last three months salary slips and Appointment letter serves the purpose. You can talk to your new employer about the same, but make sure before you comit any statemnt. There should not be any falsification of the data you provide to your new employer.

Shah is right. The Pay-slips & Offer Letter should be OK.
Also if you have any copy of your Resignation Letter [acknowledged by your boss or HR], pl take that too.
But what's the reason your present company gave to give you the Relieving Letter after 3-4 months? It shouldn't take so much time even for regular employees.

Hi,

It's possible if your not providing sufficient notice period to your current employer then they can hold your relieving formalities. In this type of situation you have to convinced your new employer that if they wants you to join on immediate basis then you will submit the reliving letter after 3-4 months.
