I am not new to this site, though this is the first time I am posting a query. I work with an engineering consultancy.
This is for all those who are working with Consulting firms or have worked with external Consultants in their organisation.
I need to know
1) how consultants structure their fees. I.e. if our overall expenses are say 'X amount' then what are the typical headings that I should break it up into?
2)Typically, which of the above headings covers the majority of the fees?
3) I need the above in two scenarios: a) we are offering hour based services. say 10*8= 80 hrs per month b) we are offering project completion based services

Many thanks for your reply. I just need some more clarification. Are the charges you have mentioned on basis of project completion (as opposed to hourly rates etc.)? If so, then what is the typical duration of a project?
Another point: the kind of work we do is high level - e.g. quality certification of engineering products, technical marketing expertise etc. for which we have consultants with more than 25yr of specialist, international experience. What would be the typical charges for this sort of a critical service?
To clarify more about myself - actually we are an assorted group of family, friends and associates who have gone into business on our own. Since each one of us has our own competency and way of charging, we are trying to arrive at a more comprehensive, market driven fee structure. Hence any help is welcome.

Hi,
No its different from what you are doing. As i told you that I am working for an IT company so the rates are not based on Hourly basis...These are for permanent positions.
I dont think i would much help u in your concern.
