Dear Mr R.N.Khola

I am working with a PSU as an Executive Officer. I have a query.

The PSU recruitment as you know is normally a lengthy process. I had applied for the exam in Aug 2008 Appeared for exam in Nov 2008. Result came ouy in Dec 2008 and the interview held in January 2009. The final result of my success came in April 2009. By that time i was 7.5 months pregnant. I was supposed to Join for training at Pune in May 2009, for which i duly joined and completed the three weeks training and subsequently i had joined at my place of posting for one day and got my maternity leave sanctioned for six months. I was blessed with a baby girl ( which is my second child) on 22nd June 2009. I was given the salary due to me for these six months and thereafter joined back after my leave on 30th November 2009. My probation period was extended by the time equivalent to my leave i.e. six months. My query is that will this extension of my probation result in losing my seniority as well by the same time. My organisation is saying so but i doubt as that isagainst the spirit of the maternity benefit act. Pl advise what course of action should be taken by me.

Regards
