Hi,
I would like to know if employees can avail leave during their notice period(1 month). If they take long leave during notice period are the companies supposed to extend their notice period???
Please send me your inputs.

It all depends on the relationship the employee has with the Company...Employee is expected to give notice period so that they complete the work & hand over the same to some one..
You can either :
1) adjust the persons leave agst the number of balance leave they have
2) if they have no leave balance then deduct the pay
3) or simply extend the date
which ever suits to both the parties.

I believe that Notice period is given like asha said to complete your current tasks and hand it over to the right authority.
Has the employee's long leave been approved or it is taken without informing.
Ideally we deduct the salary or balance leave's if taken during the notice period.

Yes the employees can take long leaves in the notice period in case they have leave balance, because that is the right of the employee as per most of the company policies but still it depends from company to company , in case of my company we adjust the total leave balance of employee's tenure with company against the notice period and so the employee serves a notice period of
Total notice period (say 30 days) - leave balance(no of days) = Actual notice period to be served by the employee.
rest depends from company to company , some companies even have a clause that an employee cannot take a single leave even during notice period and his notice period is extended by the no. of leaves that he has taken.

Sapna Kale & Neha have already answered your query.. The employee can avail the leave as long as the thier employer has no issue. As said before the point of giving a notice period is to complete the given the work & hand over the same...
It wld be idealy good if the employee dont take a leave or else what is the point giving notice period..
still if due to some unavoidable reason the person has taken leave you can do the adjustment in thier salary as said above.

Hi valsan,
sending medical certificate thru d company mail ID is acceptable bt wen he commences his duty ask him to submit orginal copy of certificate.
Resignation letter also accepted sent by company mail ID
