I have learnt that there are different levels of six sigma, i.e. yellow, orange, green and black belt.

Yes, there are more certs than just the standard Green and Black. There's Yellow Belt, which is the bare minimum you need, and to be frank, I think you're better off doing green belt. I did Six Sigma Green & Black Belt combined. It was beneficial to me.

It stands for Define, Measure, Analyze, Improve and Control. This type of system was initially developed by Edward Deming, based on the Plan, Do, Check, Act (PDCA) cycle. Each Six Sigma Project is carried out in an organization using the DMAIC “cycle.” The aim of each Project is to systematically minimize defects through statistical analysis and statistical tools, resulting in significant cost reductions of many thousands of dollars for each Project.
