Dears,
I have a doubt in Performance appraisal..
If two person joined in a office for same position with different salary
(Eg: person 1: Rs6000 , person 2: Rs10000). But their productivity is same . How we have to give appraisal for them...
The appraisal is same or it will differ for each?
Kindly reply..........
Thanks in advance...

Dear Kalpana,
THere are two types of Appraisals are followed,
1.Performance Appraisal based on Key Performance Indicators with Objectives and Accountabilities
2.Only based on Key Performance Indicators
Difference is one who have the Managing points, he will be the higher salary
One who has the control points he will be the lowest or considerable

Dear Kalpana,
Salary cannot differentiate between the appraisal type. Yes if their levels or dept. is different then their appraisal would differ in terms of tasks Vs Performance.
If they both have joined in the same dept. then appraisal would depend upon the tasks assigned to them throughout the year & this would be defined by his superior. you will have to evaluate the tasks performed Vs Expected & thus define their appraisal accordingly.
In total their appraisal would differ in terms of KRA's assigned & acheived.
Hope this may solve your confusion.

It Should be difference because when comparing to appraisal , They have to check the experience, attendence, attitude etc. All this we have to check in the appraisal.

If u find the producitvity as OK i.e. approx nearly to yr expectations than u shud gv gud appraisal to employee drawing 6000 whereas the employee with 10000 can be gvn ok appraisal. the logic behind this is that
(1) obvsiously they both must be aware of each others salary . Now wen it cumes to productivity both r gving the same irrespectv of d difference.
(2)wen the company hired this 10000 drawing employee, there must be surely an expectation that he cud gv better resutls to company than the person who was offered 6000 bt in reality there is not much diff.
hence luking to this criteria if u gv gud appriasal to employee with 6000 he wil get motivated that inspite of early low beginning , his efforts and work thruout the year were rewarded and other guy wud understand that he needs to work more as there were more expectations from him; which as he cudnt fulfil hence was nt appraised upto the mark.
This will surely boost up producitve atmo in the organization also. Also u need to surely consult their seniors wht they think shud be rewarded, bcoz after all they were the better judges wrt their behaivour, attitude towards work, attendace, etc which are some of the other factors which play an imp role in PA.
Hope this short essay wud have helped u a bit.
