Being a State Act, the leaves under different Shops and Establishments Act will differ. As per Kerala Act, an employee is eligible for 12 days CL and 12 days sick leave during the 12 months and also 12 days earned leave after 12 months of working. In addition to these, leave for sterilisation @ 6 days for men and 14 days for women are also available. Earned leave can be accumulated for a period of 24 days. But unlike Factories Act, no provision for encashment of leave while on service is available under the Act. But an an employee leaving the establishment is expected to take home cash value of the leave to his credit. Regards, Madhu.T.K
