Hi Colleague. Wonderful post. Mr Fred Smith is the founder of FexEx a pioneer in Courier and today it is one of the most admired MNCs. They hold the largest number of aircrafts. Their people will tell you the date a parcel or package will be delivered from one destination to the anonther in whichever continent it may be and it will be accordingly delivered. This is one of the MNCs that stands out whether there is rain or shine. No economic melt down can do any harm to a company like FedEx. In this Company, there is one appraisal system for evaluating the supervisors by the supervised!
Their telephone operators will lift the phone at the first ring! Mr Smith has injected a feeling in the minds of every employee that he or she owns the firm! The reason for this outstanding success of this enterprise is the gospel of Mr Smith ...P S P. That is People Service and Profit in this order. He says that if he takes care of the people, they naturally take care of the service to customers and this naturally brings profits.

Dear Sundarrajan and Priyanka,
Both of you have gone ga-ga over working of FedEx. Of course this company has earned many accolades and may earn in future too. But remember the other side of the moon is always invisible. Please try to find out the other side too and then make your opinion.
The courier industry rests on the couriers that move on the roads. Why both of you can't interview few couriers in your city and then give some post on this website?
Thanks,

Dear Mr Dinesh Vivekar:
I am afraid, I am not getting your point. Whatever I have expressed is based on quite a good amount of materials I read from published researches and books and on my personal experience too. If an organization has grown from scratch and has become a giant in the industry setting bench marks for the industry in service, reliability and speed, what should one think of this Organization. Prior to FedEx, there was no system of courier
service. This business model was conceived by Mr FredSmith as a Project Report as part of his MBA and his own professor was not very much enamoured of this report and awarded only 'C'!
Later, after his service in US Army, he started this business moldel
which is today the biggest in the wlorld. There are hundereds of courier service companies in the world today
borrowing the moldel of FedEx, but none of them can go anywhere near FedEx. If you have any information to the contrary, you are welcome to share it with us.

Dear Dinesh,
I welcome your view and it's true saying that without working in any organization you will not able to see the inside of the organization. But one only come to know about any other company expect the company they are working...from friends- various groups, by reading magazines, surfing internet etc. There are always the positive and negative side of every organization. If one is in the HR or Top management one can over come negatives. And its always better to share the over come gaps, challenges, success, process, practices, awards and achievement about the companies in one's knowledge.
So the conversation going on was just about sharing one of the challenges / or practices followed by Fedex. Nothing in personal.

The Article is good ..but had some of the innovative practises, programmes and methods developed and used by Fedex too have been shared would have made the article more meaning and viable as this would have given insight to many HR professionals a new way to structure the HR in their organisation and ideas for development too...without it the Case study is still incomplete ..like examples should have been quoted and references should have been drawn....overall the article is no doubt share worthy...
