Hi JP:
We are sailing in the same boat.
I would suggest: Start by preparing the KRAs and KRIs (Key responsible Area and Key Indicators)
Because this will help u make the perf apprasial more objective than being subjective. If this is reviewed quarterly, u can have a general appraisal at the end of the year which will be based upon the results on achieving the KRAs.
First prepare Job Description
Be clear with responsibilities
From the responsibilities derive the KRAs and KRIS
Then prepare the annual perf appraisal sheet.

Good one John in OZ!!!
Might as well tell them something about planning and executing performance appraisals.
JP / Swati,
Why don't you first give us some details about the existing system of appraisals (if any) and we can tell you about the best possible manner (as per our individual opinions) in which you can do the performance appraisals.
Thanks

Dear all,

Many a times it is seen in this forum (and using this) that the career aspirants in any field be it in HR or Sales or Accounts want a quick fix or short cut in the form of downloading a particular format/details for their quieries/issues/problems. In simple words they use this cite as instant problem solver/ready reckoner. In this process where is the scope of learning and earning? Over a period of time without applying their mind they tend to or are habituated to ask answers or sollutions for any issue.
In this chain they also get sidelined without good interpersonalship among their colleagues. But they boast that they have done it. Only to develop the short sighted approach or tunneled vision.

Our colleagues are willingly share their information without much thought ( if it is genuine and original thinking).

It would be only appropriate that the career aspirants especially the entrants think and refer the books and come out with their original ideas, innovative approach to any issue. Indulge in personal discussions, healthy debates and take somei initiatives. See their previous incidents, files and form an impressionin their own set up.

All the best.

Hi Rangarajan,

I agree to what you are tryign to say here. "Just cut copy paste would not be beneficial or improve scope of learning".

But lets c it this way - people may not use the forms or documents as the ultimate resource to serve their purpose. For helping u understand this much better - I do a lot of research and see how various company practises it, and then create one suiting my company needs. Its not just mere cut copy paste.

And if u ask why not go to books - I would say, books dont help u understand the practical implementation.

Practical implementation knowledge happens by sharing and EXPERIENCING. So, no harm in ppl sharing documents. No one is going to use the exact form - its just learning from others, and try and incorporate a better model that suits us. This helps a lot in making US think - how to create a better one.

This does not mean that I disagree with ur statements - its just that, there are a few who make use of their own mind and creative talent. And also a few - who simply dont think, or I would say "Afraid to think" (they would fall into the category of ppl of wat u have explained above)

"A person who asks will be a fool for 5 minutes, but a person who never asks - remains a fool forever"
