Amit,
Good topic to discuss. There are many companies in Public Sector where you have association for Officers. While no place we have a collective bargaining strength available for HR Professional to my knowledge.
HR Profession has emerged as a key area of specilisation by companies in last century only. Earlier to that Manager's themselves act as an HR. For example, a cycle shop may not have a HR professional or a hotel or a family owned business like garments. While some one is acting as an HR Manager there. Are these business not running or not existing.
If we don't exist then, our jobs are possible to be managed by others. However, doing it right first time, will be a challenge to them. Over a period of time, things will fall in place for them. This is my view..

Hi,
From the answers above I can conclude that if HR does'nt exist, the companies work would not be hampered and that HR is still considered to be a cost centre.
The kind of importance HR has gained today, I believe HR is becoming indispensable for any organization.
Can we see in the coming times an HR Manager becoming the CEO of a company?
Regards
Amit

No already discussed,, HR become CEO etc etc ,plz search in cite HR.
and beleive me workers have more importance than HR,
Because if the 20 HR team of a company goes on strike, there will be 100 people unemployed outside waiting to be recruited as HR...., because even if there is HR association, the unemployed will get their food .. so the STRIKING HR will go HOME and rest..
And if the 1000 worker union go on strike, from where the hell can u get 1000
workers and each day will mean loss of crores ,,,
so understand what is the JOB of HR
and why do the DOCTORS go on strike,
why do the TAXI WALLAS go on strike,,
because all has something to do with public... or lots of money, and here HR is neither related with PUBLIC nor MONEY...
HOPE this cleared.. ur point
and HR becoming CEO search in citehr.

Dear Colleagues
You are now giving me worry and doubt if your contribution in this topic have any HR perspectives. The participants who says "nothing happens when hr go striking or hr have no use" he/she is totally dont understand what is the priest and shekhe are doing in this world (peace, harmony, inspire & hope to go to heaven).
Sometimes I feel that, HR now is categorised in the public servise professionals, because in real sence hr will never go on strike, even most of the laws insist HR proffessional can not join trade unions due to the nature of his/her responsibilities/authority.
To be HR you must have the feeling of being HR, and if you think this is just a proffesional like any other proffessional think of a doctors dealing with patients and their relatives and then compare to HR who is dealing with people with different behaviour, skills, knowledge of understanding, attitudes, emotions, skill and unskilled, then tell me either production, finance, mkting manager if can handle those people, you must have a karma myfiend
To be good hr in a modern world, you must have a leadership quality, but to be a manager, you just only need to be a dictotor and bureaucratic mgtnt style
so watch out guys
