Hi Geetika,
I am about to receive my yearly Performance Appraisal in a day's time. I am working as an HR Executive, but my work profile consists of handling a lot of administrative work along with recruitment, policy-making, and other HR general practices. However, over a year's time, I have discovered that among all the job responsibilities, I am not comfortable with recruitment and do not enjoy it. This discomfort is the reason I am unable to give my 100% to what's assigned.
My question is, should I discuss this issue during the appraisal process or not?
Please do reply to this as I am in need of proper advice.
Thanks,
Geetika

Hi Geeti,
I feel you should openly discuss about it. As you said that you aren't able to give your 100% to it and do not enjoy it, it will anyways come to their notice that you aren't doing justice to what you have been assigned, and they are definitely going to question you on this during the appraisal.
And if you will discuss with them and voice your opinion as to what you like and what you are comfortable doing, I don't think it would harm you in any way. Then you can even get your choice of profile if they can afford to give you, and things will be clear as well. This is what I feel.
Thanks,

Hi,
I sit in the performance appraisal reviews in my organization, and I seriously recommend being open about justifying what you can provide to the job. Mention all the problems you face during recruitment and why you do not enjoy it.
Happy appraisal :)

Hi Geethika,
Well, I guess the best thing for you to do is to voice your problem right away because it's no help waiting all the way until your appraisal review to speak about your problem. Recruitment is a huge responsibility on its own, and you are providing vital resources to your organization. It definitely requires some kind of commitment, so I think you need to speak out before you have people running behind you wondering why you haven't met the requirements. It's better to speak up before landing in a soup.
