Dear Latha,
We the members of this forum are outsiders and we do not know anything about the nature of your business and expectations of your MD. If you are Executive Assistant and report to MD or CEO, then it is his duty to provide the format for the report. Therefore, you may sit with him some time and understand his expectations.
As far as reports are concerned, some of the information has to come from the HODs also. Therefore, MD must issue a circular on what information he wants from them, when he wants, how he wants etc. You might be the person to compile the information to provide in tabulated format.
Thanks,

Mr.Divekar is right in stating that your management should give you the template in which they would want the MIS reports to be presented. Each organization and each management would have a different perspective on what to focus attention on, and the MIS is therefore tailored accordingly.
However, you can look up the following link and download some MIS samples shared there. Prepare your own MIS format based on inputs from what you download and your own understanding of what your management would be looking for in the MIS reports.

Whatever format you prefer, but generally senior management do not get time to read all the data. they just need snapshot of all the things so that within less time they can gather most of the required information. for this Graphs are good. Now in excel 2010 to 2016 we can create dashboards easily using pivot-charts in that you can add timelines and slicers to make the dashboard dynamic. What kind of information they need must have already been shared with you.
