Hi all
I came across an article where it was emphasised that more number of HR consultancies and IT companies are focusing on equipping their HR with the knowledge of specific technology domain like java,ERP ..
I dont understand why a HR should know about technology when their core function is related to people and not technology in IT companies context.
Will be obliged if anyone can give me more insights on this subject.

Hi Durga,
Its a real good question what you have come up with. Though I am not at all a senior to answer this question, however, I think I can little bit of brainstorming here.
I beleive its always good to have an inside look of the processes where your manpower works in. The conditions, situations, ever changing trends and the strain to cope up with the current trend can not be completely understood by a person who does not know A.. B..C.. of the field. Since the HR field, as you said, has to do with the people the HR person needs to know the state of the people.
As its said the leader can be a real good leader when he's belongs to the community. It exactly applies in here too. :)

Mayuri.

Hi Durga,
What I feel is, Yes its always an added advantage. Recruitment Technical Skills. Organizations hire HR recruitment professionals for their technical expertise: Can you develop a job analysis survey? Can you source candidates utilizing Internet research techniques? Are you experienced in utilizing applicant tracking systems? Can you conduct an effective selection interview?. Every HR recruitment professional should know that developing their competencies and skills is vital to their success. But every HR recruitment professional also seems to know that he or she is great at it. Your greatest challenge is to admit to flaws in your strategic HR recruitment competency and skill sets and work tirelessly to improve them.
