Online attendance means thru biometric process?? If attendance is recorded thru biometric system, no physical siganature in attendance register is required to be done. If you wish so, you can ask them to sign also.

Every organization either has their own attendance portal or they go for third party attendance portal i.e. biometric system.
As per the labour law, every organization has to maintain a attendance register for the Factory Inspector and / or for Sops and Establishment Inspector.
If no employee sign the register, then the HR dept has to maintain it weekly or monthly to avoid any type of remarks from the government authorities.
Therefore, its the organization's call to mandatory fill the attendance register on daily basis from employees or fill it by themselves from the data exported from the attendance portal for the sake of compliance.

Dear imok,
As said by Ankit, it is compulsory to maintain an attendance register by all the establishment even though you have a bio-metric system or any other portals to record the attendance...
It is a one of the statutory compliances to follow...and it is mandatory...

Dear imok
You might have got some idea about the attendance maintenance. Our seniors have guided you. But I have some doubts.
How the employees are registering their presence.
Do the employees using swipe card attendance or biometric system (finger or face reading) to register their attendance.
How you are uploading the same in the Portal.
If you give some clarification then it will be easy to guide you.

we use our dedicated lan network and a dedicated portal which runs only on portal, employee need to logging their login id from there they click on their attendance portal, its not any physical machine.. and its secured because it cant be accessed through net.. or on lan it even cant be accessed if system is not registered by our IT Team...
its automatically updated in records...
please clarify if its possible to bypass.. this manual attendance..

Please approach your IT Team to get the attendance print out for every month on completion of month and get it filed neatly. If the employee not logged on that particular day means it will show blank and in that column the HR has to fill with leave or on duty or absent or sick whatever the reason for not logging in. Then on completion of your work instruct the IT Team to get the print out of monthly attendance and keep the same filed properly so that the same can be produced to the appropriate inspecting authorities.
You can even explain the same to the inspecting authorities regarding the system and they will surely understand and they will not ask for attendance on daily basis in manual form.
