There is no compulsion on the employer to deduct EPF contribution from the salary of employees if their gross salary is more than Rs. 15,000. However, if they are already contributing to their EPF account and are willing, both the employees' and the employer's contributions will continue, and their salary will be capped for EPF at a maximum of Rs. 15,000 as EPS contribution is also involved in this.

The rate of deduction and contribution by the employer shall remain at 12% of the gross salary.
