i am doing MSW HR in Madras School Of Social Work. We have to choose a topic for our research as i am doing my final year. I would like to know what are the current issues in HR that would be suitable for a research topic. I also would like to know which area would give me an edge when it comes to my career or basically my interview.

Attrition is a favourite topic of Students...not a preferred by others, since the trends are very generic in nature and cannot be share with others since the content is the right of the company. Consider topic which are recent trends of development in the industry, consider your passion too. Topics like ESOPs, you will not get companies data since confidential in nature. Topics in Training have become a house hold name now.
One of the big debate in HR today is " Value creation by HR Professional in Business". You can look at this topic. "Challenges in Managing Cross Culture diversity" is another topic since companies are going global in sales & acquiring companies around the world. "Diversity Management" is another topic which is hot. Not many dare to take this since their knowledge is less on this.
