Hi, im doing a project on HR in Aviation Industry. i have gathered some information about the aviation industry, but i m unable to find any information related to the HR in the aviation industry or pertaining to any airlines. I have been trying to get an appointment with the Indian airlines and Jet Airways so as to understand the HR practices followed in these airlines, but is unable to find any information on it. Can anyone help me with this topic to understand the recruitment and selection process, training, performance appraisal, compensation , etc in detail in the aviation industry or in any indian domestic airlines......

Hi cris, im employed with Lufthansa Technik Phils. right now. Although it's not an airline company since we deal on the maintenance, repair, and overhauling of aircrafts, but just as the same, we are in the aviation industry.
I have been to a purchasing and procurement company before my stint here in Lufthansa, I should say HR practices from both companies are pretty much the same.

My wife has been working for an Airline for apprx 5 yrs now, and she has not seen any kind of HR intervention to check emp satisfaction on all HR practices for all those yrs./ the only time they see HR is when they need add ifo on COmp and Ben and when they are given warning letters.
I havent heard of any airline having Performance Managment systems for employees nor any grievances portal. Nor any RnR..
Why???

I'm glad that you mentioned this issue,if u look carefully,in terms of Employees' Service Rules the "Airline WORLD" tends to vary than any other industry.As far as grievance is concerned,my company has always made it an issue to address the employees' opinions regarding any work related complaints that is hampering their progress.Even if a Disciplinary Action is essential,a committee is formed to deal.The increments often make up for whats not being given financially.Performance Management is also something we initiate but I've proposed a new Performance REVIEW process for the yearly assessment and and kept management for the Probationary Period completion.
Another factor would also be the fact that HRD was introduced by companies in the Aviation sector way late than any other industry.

In response to Ken's questions,I apologize for the unorganized answer....another issue I forgot to address is that i found it quite strange that all the topics you mentioned that are not practiced in your wife's company were existing in ours even before they formed an HR department.I guess every company's perspective towards HR will tend to differ mainly due to the differences in their business practices.
