Hi Friends,
As i am from HR field & having more than three years experience in the same field i want to ask one question to all HR Professional ,after being on a such a responsible designation OF an HR do we get that respect & positive response from the employees as well as Top management,we always feel ourself stuck in between top management & employees , If we implement something said by our top management than employees treat HR as an enemy & if do something in support of employee than our Bosses & Top management says that we are doing our job well , so putting our 100% even we can not satisfied both of them .
So Do you think that in such a case the HR can ever get a job satisfaction from their profile.

Good Question. This query raises not only for you, who have been in HR have same question goes on mind?
1. We can't take any individual decision without management guidance.
2. HR Department be on shadows of Management board.
3. Other thing, In a company most of departments doesn't know the activity of HR, but they make argument and criticism on our work.
Friends, kindly look in to this topic and give a right way.

HR does all HR administration part on its own, no issue regarding that.
But for Decision making, HR is not fully aware of the consequences of the decision, and like a child makes decisions, then when it approaches the Management for approval management views the decision from all angles and either supports it or rejects , Management knows whats best for the company, as it Manages both Processes, and HR both. So in a way HR should not think the decision of management on their activities as hurdle. Like each time when employees dont get their expected thing, they blame HR, HR should also not do the same, by blaming Management. Management is always above HR and knows what is right for HR and employees.

Hi Sheetal,
You are rightly said, we fill the gap in between top management and employees. We are like a bridge for both. If the bridge is not in a proper condition then everything gets collapsed.
Its really a great job and work satisfaction in working as a HR.

i feel job satisfaction for the hr people is the way in which the HR professionals look at and perceive the forces around them...
if u feel hr is stuck somewhere between the management and the employees then it also a fact that sales personnel are stuck between the interests of the management and the customers. Similarly the employees from the finance dept are required to balance the interests of the shareholders and the internal interests of the organisation.
Thus job satisfaction is ultimately the way in which one views his job to be rather than acessing more about the impact of external and internal forces over the job

Find a way to add value in what ever you are doing , transparency in dealings , keeping the human factor in mind always, distancing your self from emotions and sentiments - all these will help you to get Job satisfaction. As advised by Gita we need to just do our duty and the rest is in God's hands.

I have 12 yrs of expereince and at times I go thru what u have written about below. I am a generalist and I see myself and tell my employees that I am a bridge between them and the management and shall be happy that people use this bridge often. I say the same to my management. You do get job satisfaction and often when u are in large organisations with tiered HR - you enjoy things more. Do u not appreciate the respect / power and elite group tag that you get. Do u not feel satisfied when an Employee Satisfaction survey mentions that people are happy with HR - count this all as part fo the satisfaction process. Remember when u were one of the first to come to know that a colleague was searching out- that is the satisfaction that we HR professionals can derive....

Remember friends that what we think of ourself is more important than what others think about us.
HR is the most challenging careers. In organisations all the people will be there to take credit of whatever comes off well. And there will be noone to take the responsibility if something goes wrong. Infact they try to blame HR for anything that goes wrong.
However, in progressing organisation HR is considered as key partner for business success rather than a support function. Which itself is a very satisfying thing.
I have observed that jobsatisfaction amoongst HR pros (including me) remain mercurial (goes up and down frequently). This needs to be changed which only we (ourselves) do. Set your values, set your priorities. Give more weightage to SELF appraisal than 'comments & remarks' by others (employees, boss, peers). And be consistant with your approach. We will have good Job Satisfaction surely.

The dilemma which you are in is very common. But being an HR professional iteself, we cannot have this dilemma. As was mentioned, we are actually a bridge between the employees and the management. We have to walk along a tight rope, which means we need to master the balancing act. We need to be a champion for the employees and at the same time we need to be a management person. And here lies the challenge. And we should be getting satisfaction from this ever constant challenge!!! Isn't it?
