I am currently working as a Graduate engineer Trainee in a reputated steel industry of India. I am not at all satisfied with my job and want to leave the company as soon as possible. I have provident fund account but I dont know my account number. The company has already forced to sign a contract by BOPT(board of practical training) for 1 year. Does provident account number get attached to my PAN card? If my company does not provide me with clearance how will I join a new company? New company will absorb me as a Graduate trainee and they will create another Provident fund Account -will that be a problem?

Hi,
Answers to your Questions:
1. Check your pay slip to know your PF number, many companies mention it on pay Pay slips. If you cant find it check with HR Department.
2.PF Number does not get attached with PAN number.
3.Whenever you will join any new company they will generate new PF number under their Establishment Code.
4. Have completed one year in your current Organisation as per your contract? If yes then there is no reason to hold your clearance. If you have not completed one year kindly check the copy of your contract regarding any clause regarding leaving the organisation.
Hope this helps.

Dear Rupali,
Thank you very much for giving me some valuable information. My tenure of 1 year is not over yet, but I am in hurry of leaving this company before 1 year. The contract copy was not given to us by the company. Also I don't remember the clause of leaving the company. I will leave the company at my own decision. Will there be any problem if I dont get clearance before I join a new company? Can any particular individual possess more than one Provident Fund account under two different institutions?

Hello!!
The answer to ur query is that Its not possible to to have two Provident Fund nos. by an individual. here it is also pertinent to note that since you hv not completed one year in present company, there is no question of allotment of any PF no. by the Company.
Accordingly no deductions towards Provident Fund would have have been made from ur salary till this period.
