What are the key competencies required in an IT job and what are the very few Threshold competencies that allow a person to get differentiated between an associate consultant and a senior consultant level and then between a senior consultant and a manager??
I am doing this project where i have to prepare a competency model for my company......so i need the above info to start with......can anyone send me some example or help me start with my project???

Hi
Although, I may not be able to give a specific answer to your query relating to an IT Industry / Consultant - Manager Mapping scenario...
But Key/Core Competencies are the ones which are the most intrinsic and high priority for a particular role.
e.g. For a Consultant/Analyst/Manager - Functional Competencies for the vertical are a must. These cannot be ignored at any level.
However, growing into a role - Threshold Competencies would differentiate incumbents for the role - Relationship Management, Sales Closing Ability etc etc. These would in most circumstances have more proficiency levels than the Key/Core Competencies so as to try and have an objective measurement for people to get into higher roles
Hope it helps
