We are in garment factory at chennai and closing down our one unit from 1st June 2017. 2 females are pregnant if we close the settlement will be released and there is no esi for them if they continue. If they fight with us for the maternity benefits what is the procedure. Also new company will take over them from July 2o17

The benefit period for a contribution period continues. Please check with local office whether the females will get the maternity benefit. If there is going to be gap, it is advisable that you make it good.

The ESIC rule is that any treatment that has been initiated will be continued in spite of stopping contribution. This is generally meant for those who leave their job or are terminated during their treatment. So it applies to you. Please check whether pregnancy benefits also continue in similar manner
