I have some contractor in our limestone mines. The contractor has appliled for labour license for 50 persons. what would be the security deposit and how it is to be paid.

I am just coming straightaway to your query posted.
Just go through the following procedure for opting the license for the contractor:
1. First of all go through the applicability of central & state rule for the contractor labour (
Regulation & abolition)Act 1970.
2. Then apply for the opting of labour license in form v & form iv along with challan payment copy in quardilateral to be submitted in any sbi branch/rbi/treasury.
3. At the time of fresh opting for the license you need to deposit security amount for total no of contract workmen under seurity deposits act of cotract labour act 1972.
4. The security deposit amount is rs 1000 per head as per the security deposits act of contreactor labour ( r&a) 1972.
5.Calculation of security deposit amount is as follow:
total sd amount = sd per head *no of worker under contractor for whom labour license is be applied.
Total sd amount =1000*50 i.e. rs 50000

My this reply is in context to the process of renewable of labour license i.e. When the labour license gets expired as per the validity notified on the license of the contractor .
usually the validity of labour license is 1 year and gets expired after 31 st december of year ending.
1.then the contractor has to go for renewable of labour license depending upon the period of work order.
2. you need to apply in form no vii as per the applicability of the contract labour(regulation & abolition)act under state & central laact 1972.
3.In case of renewable of license the contractor needs to only pay the renewable fees as prescribed under the state or central act of renewable license fees scheme.
4. make the payment of renewable feees in the state prescribed challan format and deposits the challan amount in the sbi branch of the state.
and keep the photocopr of the chaalan pament with you for the future reference.
