Hi Megha,

Please visit the forum specially for Subject Phd: PHD, Research & Assignments - CiteHR Human Resource Management Community Knowledgebase

Well synopsis or PhD Proposal is really important because it shows the interest and core knowledge of aspirant because Phd is not a course but a long detailed study which required special skills.

I request you to spend a good time with forum and start your research now. Any Phd aspirant must take every step by taking it as a RESEARCH which will make you habitual to study at length and motivate you.

When i was at the stage where you are today, I was the only one who helped myself and spent a good time to know with what i am good and for which subject must go so that i can make my interest of study always alive.

Self Motivation is the very first thing which you required most and at every stage on this way.

Lastly, please share whats in your mind and what you wanna do first along with your specialization and work experience (if any). Your interest, knowledge, experience, and skills matters here most.

Hi Megha,
I am myself doing PhD at JNU presently in the field of contract labour. You can choose your topic for research if you enter PhD, but I am afraid you may be required to do an Mphil first and undergo coursework before choosing a topic. Better you do your PhD from a B school, but they give you a Fellow Programme in Mgmt. degree and not a PhD degree, besides there are certain conditions for admission. As I did my PG from MDI, I initially thought of a FPM there, but later took a decision to do a proper PhD in JNU. I hope this caters your query else you can contact me personally.

Thank you Anil for sharing your valuable feedback and advise.
As rightly said by you Synopsis or PhD proposal is very important and crucial part of main Thesis. But so far as i know abt Indian Government Universities those conducts their entrance exams prior to that you have to get ready with the outline of Synopsis .How would i know that teh said topic wil; interest the panel as at a time i can present only one topic and if they said no again after an year i have to appear for the exams ..so its a very big big wait. And as told by few friends Guide is only provided once you clear the exams ..?????? Now who will guide me on topics ..???
Well regarding my work exp. : I have spent 2 years in Event Management Industry as a Client servicing .Branding ,Promotion , Roadshows,Mall activation , School activities were few activities to name that we had executed for our clients. My Specialization area is Marketing

Thanks Pankaj for your inputs .
As you told that B school will give FPM which is lil different from PhD and I am planning to do only PhD and that to from a reputed government university .
and as far as M Phil is concerned I am little reluctant towards it .
But my main concern is about the research topic/PhD proposal and getting valuable guidance for it because that is very important above all .

Ok Megha, now as you are sure that you want to do PhD from a traditional University, you should prepare for an entrance examination. If you clear you should worry about your Viva where you may need to present a research topic. Of course it is no problem if you are ready with a topic. May be if you are preparing for my Centre you can work on "Governance issues related to event management" and prepare research questions and methodology for the same. However there can be n number of topics.

I guess there is no problem as far as our Centre is concerned with any topic if it is found appealing to the faculty for a viable research. Bye, Pankaj
