Hi Shruti,

We assume that you are in India now and looking for a break after your work experience in Healthcare Industry from Australia.
Don’t see any reason as why you have not been capitalize your MBA and sales experience – perhaps you need to get some exposure on the sales in Indian milieu before you opt for Marketing assignment and therefore reconsider if there is no substantial hike.
Or if you have seven years experience in India and not getting a good break in Marketing which is rather surprising for the Healthcare Industry which has been growing rapidly and estimated to be worth US$ 40 billion by 2012, according to Pricewaterhouse Coopers in its report, 'Healthcare in India: Emerging market report 2007'. Revenues from the healthcare sector account for 5.2 per cent of the GDP, making it the third largest growth segment in India.
It is difficult for us to comment without knowing your sales experience profile as why you are not getting a break in Marketing ; would recommend you to consider the option of doing Executive MBA course for one year from IIM, XLRI etc wherein you need to give exams on weekends and attend online classes while on the current position. If you have no commitments like children or family perhaps you can consider the taking the shot for full time course at IIM or ISB – it’s worth it and would provide you immense opportunities in life.
Or perhaps you can leverage your experience in Healthcare and move to IT industry or to equity research firm- just take the reference of the opening on the same as herein.
Just be patient and think it out.
Best wishes,
Rajat
