Dear ,
PM : was more towards the employee welfare.
HRm : aligining the individual goals tp the organisational goals , in such a way that when the individual goes to achieve his personal goals orgnisational goals are acheived at the longer run.
Eg: A faculty of an academic institute enrolls for Ph.d , as an individual she get her Doctrate ...and the orgnisation get a Professor......
I am also forwarding you a detailed note on a PM v/s HRM( someone had presented it here a few days ago) .

hi
the concept hrm was the latest concept. the concept of pm is the older verson
in Pm they dont have any seperate department for HR and they tought that only compenstaion and incentives are the major components of motivation in other words they tought that only monetory rewards motivate the employee they dont consider the employes as a resource
but in HRM they consider that employees are the mojor aserts of a company and they consider only monetory benefits dont ful fill the needs and wants of thm and thy give much importancem for the welfare of the employees in simple terms they conder employees and company are not different and they are the major assets for the company they even use the term human capital the denot the work force.

Personnel Management - Personnel Management is thus basically an administrative recordkeeping function, at the operational level. Personnel Management attempts to maintain fair terms and conditions of employment, while at the same time, efficiently managing personnel activities for individual departments etc. It is assumed that the outcomes from providing justice and achieving efficiency in the management of personnel activities will result ultimately in achieving organisational success.
Human Resource Development - Human resource management is concerned with the development and implementation of people strategies, which are integrated with corporate strategies, and ensures that the culture, values and structure of the organisation, and the quality, motivation and commitment of its members contribute fully to the achievement of its goals.
