Hi folks,
I run a home furnishing store in the heart of the city.my location of the store is in a popular complex my store is surrounded by three most popularfabric showrooms that sell readymade clothing for men and women. These stores generally have very good footfall everyday. My only disadvantage about my location is that my store"s visibility is blocked by an escalator and also the store is tucked in right away in the last.so many customers have remarked that the store was unnoticeable.
PLEASE HELP IN TERMS OF MAKING MY STORE NOTICED AND GET MORE WALK-INS.
LOOKING FORWARD TO UR REPLY VERY SOON,

There is a reason why stores of a kind congregate at one location. For example you would see many medical stores in one location. The same goes for furniture. People are usually in a particular buying mode - and will only browse other kinds of stores in the locality out of curiosity. Which is why your best bet is to relocate to a place where there are many furniture stores.
Location has it's advantages - buy/rent a smaller area just to get better located - it'll bring you more business. Always collect contact details like email, phone number to market new products and sales.

Dear Sheetal,
This is in addition to what Sid has said.
You say that the retail stores that surround you have better footfalls but not yours. One reason for high number of footfalls is type of merchandise that they sell. Your product has far longer longevity because it is consumer durable. Youngsters buy clothing more hence the more footfalls in adjoining stores. Therefore, comparison with their stores and your store is unfair.
I have a suggestion. Why not to give a discount coupon to the customers who buy in your neighbouring stores? If you buy from ____ stores then you will get discount of 1% or 2% Coupon could be valid for say 2-3 months. This is one of the ways to increase the footfalls. But again the challenge is to convert footfalls to sales. There is no guarantee that this coupon formula will increase conversion.
One more suggestion is to put up sign boards showing arrows pointed towards your store.
Ok...

In India, the most observed consumer behavior is looking for choices and eye attractors. So, if yours is the single room which sells that kind of products then I am sure not just the footfalls but also who enter your room most of them go without buying anything from you. The reasons are many, but it is the Indian consumer tendency, most of us look for more choices and go for cross verifications.

I may suggest, you bifurcate your room in to parts according to the products so that the customer can spend more time inside your room, so that you will have more time to convince them, also one sort of eye attraction.

Secondly, put small attractive banners out the store/near to your stores, and try to spread a word through your customers that the advantage of store being hidden avoids dust and other unwanted particles and customers will have more space to look/walk around, because there wont be other people other than the customers of your particular store....

thirdly, as Mr. Sid has clearly said, location matters a lot, unless you either expand there itself making it look like more than one shop or change the location......
