Hi,
I understand most companies reimburse out-station traveling expenses of candidates invited for interview. My question is whether a private sector bank would consider a reimbursement request for local travel - the venue is nearly 20 kms from my residence and I have attended 3 rounds of interview on 3 separate days - so it was a considerable expense.
The issue is while they are telling me I have been selected and will be given the offer letter soon, I haven't yet received it, and it's been 2.5 months since the process started. So, I am worried about annoying them by asking for reimbursement.
Could somebody offer some guidance on this?
Thanks in anticipation

Dear friend,
You could have asked this query to the HR who coordinated or organised your interview. Unless you ask, you will not get anything.
If the organisation is sufficiently big then HR in his/her summary powers can sign the voucher for local conveyance.

Thanks Dinesh,
The truth is I have been coordinating directly with the business team, so the HR was not there in the picture earlier. And at this crucial stage, I am concerned about whether I'll be violating the protocol to ask for local reimbursement.

It is important to know whether terms of reimbursing traveling expenses were written in the interview call.
It is the sole discretion of the management either reimburse or not and can not be claimed legally.

In some organized private sector the HR states that outstation candidates will be given to and fro reimbursement on production of their Train/Bus Tickets, but have not across any instance where local conveyance is reimbursed, since the mode or transport can not be described whether the employee will travel with their own conveyance or public transport. So the chances of getting your reimbursement is very less I assume

When the prospective employer informs that you have been selected, why do you bother about reimbursement of local conveyance for attending interviews? Thanks, R K Nair

Unless you were informed during interview call either orally or in writing about the reimbursement, you can safely assume that they won't reimburse. As already mentioned in this thread, local conveyance is generally not reimbursed as a matter of practice. Also, it is better to make this point clear during the interview call itself, to avoid such unpleasant situations.
