Basically, the country manager is responsible for the effective and profitable management of the company assigned to him/her wherever he/she was assigned ; ensures adherence to corporate policies and procedures; participates, together with the Regional Director, in formulating the goals, objectives and in developing business plans for the company in his territory.

Job Descriptions:

- Responsible, together with the Regional Director, for the development of business plans for the company.

- Executes the authorized business plans for the company, including adherence to all corporate guidelines, policies and procedures.

- Transcribes the business plans into budgets, goals and targets for the line managers, and monitors achievement of the same.

- Efficient and effective management of the operations and resources with a view to increase profitability, market share and productivity. With this in mind, guides and assists all line managers in operational issues involving efficient planning, coordination, adherence to targets/work schedules, etc.

- Directs all financial management functions of the company including treasury, credit management, payable and financial reporting.

- Responsible, together with the Regional Director, for the development and maintenance of proper and adequate insurance protection, in respect of the company’s assets, its third party liabilities as well as locally employee’s insurance schemes.

- Initiates new projects in existing as well as new (related) areas and approaches the Regional Director for discussions and obtaining sanctions for the same.

- Ensures cost effective execution of new projects/planned investment already sectioned.

- Ensures that all local purchasing is done in an efficient manner, which includes regular reviews and that proper purchasing policies and procedures are followed.

- Keeps the Regional Director informed of all major developments influencing the operations of the company.

- Ensures that the company is staffed with competent personnel. This includes selection of managers, training, and delegation of duties, responsibility and allocation of work. Jointly responsible, together with the Regional Director, for the employment of management staff.

- Monitors and assesses performance and develops a team of committed and motivated employees.

- Develops and maintains excellent contacts with local authorities, principals and local partners.
