Hello Satish,
It is absolutely not your fault that you stammer and it is perfectly okay.
Do you have any achievement or any extra efforts you put which paid off well? You should put that in your resume.
I believe in one thing, when God gives you problem with one of the senses/organs, he makes others compensate for the loss.
First things first, please do not lose hope and think that you do not have any opportunity.
Perhaps the interviewer you met must have thought that you have stammering problem cause of the nervousness of interview.
I believe you should tell the interviewer that you do have this issue but at the same time also focus on the strengths that you posses.
None of us are perfectly gifted, All of us have some or other issues, only some of us are better at hiding those than others.
As I said, before you hit the next interview -
1) Focus on your strengths and achievements and emphasize on them more.
2) Suggest that your speech has no effect on your development abilities and that as far as communication is concerned we can always have the option of someone doing it for you.
3) Show how would you be an asset to the company against the perceived liability thought in the interviewer's mind.
I don't think once you prove your worth, the interviewer would want to let go off you for a minor problem.

Dear Satish,
No matter whatever you are told , do not pay attention to it. Employers who wants to reject you, will anyhow find a reason to.
I second Ankita. Stay focussed. A developer needs to ace coding. There are project on elance and other online employment exchange. Try and crack project from there. Once you gets started , there is no looking back for you. Your credentials will speak for you and not diction.
Wish you all the best !

Hi Sathish,
Do you know the reason for your stammering as in is, is it biological or psychological.
If it is biological, you can only improve your speech by therapy.
If it is psychological, it is possible to get rid of your stammering.
I have been into voice and accent training and I encountered some candidates with speech defects. Some have shown remarkable progress with therapy, training and practice.
Call me if need be. All the best!

Dear Sathish
Iam Karthik, working as HR Manager in a steel fabrication company. You know iam also a stammerer . underwent so many speech theraphy treatments. All those stuffs can control our stammering but not cure it completely (from my individual experience only). I agree as you said i had / have tough time like you are facing now while attending interviews. Most MNC's doesnot recruit candidates having speech challenges. In your case since you are a technical person, i strongly believe that stammering will not be a problem at all . You focus on the technical skills that you possess. First of all think that the person who is interviewing is also a human being. don't get nervous or fear. You can politely quote in the end of the interview session that "even though i have this stammering problem i don't think it as a barrier to my life, so please do focus on my technical skills". Such kind of conversation will give an impression to the interviewer. Do call me if you feel depressed my no is 9790970175.
WISH YOU ALL THE BEST.

Hello Sathish,
Very wonderful suggestions given by members, especially Ankita!
I would absolutely second what Mr. Karthik said, please do not bother about your stammering problem and always treat your technical capabilities much much superior than it. The only change I would suggest is if you tell your interviewer at the beginning itself that you have little stammering problem but you don't think it is going to be an obstacle in your work anywhere, you will be mentally relaxed and can concentrate on your further interview process. Remain confident, positive and steady in your conversations and see the effect. This also won't give any scope to the interviewer to think you stammer out of nervousness.
Hope this helps and wish you all the best!!!

HI Sathish,
It is absolutely not your fault, hence don\'t feel it too much.
Focus on the following:
1. Highlight your strength & achievements in your resume
2. Go for Product Development companies rather service industries.
3. Look for core developer position in back end coding rather than in front end or enterprise level coding.
4. Tell HR about your problem in advance and try to convince them with your technical strength.
5. And important, keep trying to overcome from your problem and hope for the best always...

Dear Sathish
You know one thing.. we stammerers are gifted by god as a fast thinkers than other peoples. but when we intend to deliver what we wanted to say in that same speed, our brain and our speech doesn't synchronise in 1 line , thus stammering occurs. You know in my case being a HR i faced lots of challenges. I attended interview in a leading manufacturing orgn in Bangalore i attended 6 rounds of interview 1st and 2nd round with GM and rest with CEO of the company. What he did was just spoke to me ..some times officially some times unofficially ..the conversation was good..and he asked about my stammering..i explained in which i exhibited my confidence level and I got selected as all India HR.Infact its an Indian company only, not a MNC. At the same time a leading retailer in Bangalore has refused to accept my CV itself coz i was a stammerer..You know there are so many corporates with humanity approach accept only the talents and least bothered about these kinds of shortcomings..So go ahead... All the best. call me if u wanna any support.

its a cycle and u need to keep faith in urself. i used to be a big stammerer and even could not speak my and my father's name properly. i held to my nerve and kept faith in my strengths. today i am heading the legal dept of one of the largest and most aggresive company in india.
make a list of ques which might be asked in ur interview and write doen ur anwers.. speak out in front of mirror multiple times. frame short sentences in ur mind and them speak them with slow speed.. and tryr to speak in a rythm.
i am no speech therapist, but i did the above. i am not 100% perfect but am manage to express myself clearly.
