Thanks srinath for your reply! We are employing contract labour for engineering work only. But in Karnataka Minimum Wages sheet, a separate category is given for contract labour, who is that applicable for?

MW notified for Contract workers in Karnataka has been removed and in its place we will have to follow MW for unscheduled employments (copies attached). In other words, Contract workers engaged in scheduled Industries will have to be paid MW as applicable for such Industries and in unscheduled Industries they will have to be paid MW as applicable to unscheduled employments. Regards.

Thanks Natraj Sir, This is a news that MW Act has removed the separate section providing separate Rates for contract labour which was not falling in any scheduled industry. Since most of the C.L. are employed in scheduled induustries like Steel Plant, Mines, Constructions, Plantation etc., a Seperate rate for CL was confusing. It is good that Govt. has removed it. Now instead a non-scheduled industry is introduced which should be applicable if any C.L. does not fall into any of scheduled industry specified therein.
