How to Engage Virtual Employees?

2020 is approaching and talks on the code of conduct for “Future of Work” is the prime agenda of discussion. It is predictable that further changes are predictable due to Intelligence which is Artificial ie “Artificial Intelligence” (AI). So how do you keep and grow your culture when people are working differently than they have in the past?
It is already challenging to maintain a healthy culture that drives the business forward, then how will it be possible when employees are distributed, diverse and work in a more dynamic and open environment, it can be unnerving. However, keeping everyone working together and on the same page is an important part of employee engagement and company success.
Let's discuss some best practices and try to extend our culture beyond our physical location:
Etiquette — On Call Meetings:
Your pet is making noise or you are traveling and the entire team is listening to horn…Man, your phone has an option “Mute” use it. Often meetings are a mix of people in conference rooms and those who are dialed in. When it comes to debate and discussion, the room can have an advantage. To ensure that everyone has an equal opportunity to contribute, either have everyone dial-in or ask remote employees to go first occasionally.
Let’s Move the Water Cooler Online:
Often the way we connect with colleagues is by talking about things that are not work-related-- pets, outside interests, and the best weekend binge watches. When you are out of the office, you can miss those personal connections. Consider moving these types of interactions online.
