Secondment is a process where an employee or a group of employees is assigned on a temporary basis to work with a different group or part of their organization or to work for another, ‘host’ organization. On completion of the secondment term, the employee (the ‘secondee’) will ‘return’ to their original department or employer.

Nice and crisp presentation. I think that it is similar to what is commonly called as "foreign service" or "deputation" of the services of an employee of one organization/department to another for a specified period under an agreement between the concerned organizations while keeping certain aspects of his employment such as the lien on his services, disciplinary control, etc. with the parent organization.

The employees involved in this type of task are always within the ambit of their employer, which may include being on deputation to some other place. There cannot be two employers/paymasters for one individual, regardless of the circumstances.
