Hi,
IT companies normally follow this.
Earned Leaves:1.67 per month that can be close to 20 days in a year.
Sick leave: 7 days in a year
Maternity leave: 3 months ( this can be split- pre and post delivary)
Casual leave: one leave per month. (Not many co'.s have this.)
Beareavement leave: In case death of a close relation like husband, wife, father, mother. Can be given for 2-4 days. Company needs to decide.

There are so many leave in a company,,,,but there is no specific leave for specific company like IT Company, Telecom Company,,Manufacturing unit etc,,,,
Categories of Leave
PL / EL-Privilage Leave / Earn Leave-According to Factories Act 1948 One Adult person is elligible one leave with every 20 days / One Leave with every 15 day incase of child.The person is elligible for getting the leave after working minimum 240 days in a calender year.If you have not utilised this type of leave it will carry farwarded to the next year,,,,,,But many organisations are some limit of carry forward,,the rest are encashed
CL-Casual Leave-Total No of leave as per the companies leave policies,,,,It will not forwarded to next year or no cash encashment.It will lapsed.
SL-Sick leave-Total No of leave as per the companies leave policies,,,,It will not forwarded to next year or no cash encashment.It will lapsed.Such type leave required some prrof like the medical certificate etc,,,,
Short Leave/ Half Day etc-Whenever you are looking for change this type of leave is very necessary for you,,,,,,,
Matternity Leave- Total 12 Wks Leave,,,,

thanx for the info. i had one query regarding PL/EL, just wanted to know that if a employee in any case has not completed 240 days for example only 225 or like that then does he/she gets less PL/EL or nil.

Dear nishant.
the employee is entitled for advance credit leave in a calender year. but as per ur question is concerned, you can give leave credit to that employee till last warking day of month on pr-data basis if he has resigned.
