Hello Senior(S)
One of our Key Resource (married) is just passing on his time with one young girl (totally immature & unmarried) how to handle this issue to maintain office / work environment decoram?
1. I do not want to address this upfront to them
2. I am trying to avoid my senior's involvement in this if, it gets resolved at my level.
A common message to all employees from my end will convey the messg. to respective employee?
Please share with me your experience / suggestion.
Regards
Kevina

Thank you all for your reply..

First of all ours is an IT company with 80 emp. strength & you know IT industry working style....free / flexible timing...any one can interact with any at any time.

I had a done a Emp.Satisfaction Survey & I came to know Maximum of my employees are happy about our working environment, tobe frank some of them dont want to move out of company bcz of working environment.

Well coming to changing the timing of both the employees is not possible as we hv flexi timing for all.

Both are working in different projects at diff. work area but still they wait for each other to have lunch (though they sit in diff. groups to hv lunch, but they can see each other)

and after office hours they move jointly, stand out of the office for long hours to hv a chat....& sometime within the office too.

Since I am not sure what is cooking I can not speak to them directly, but yes I am observing from past 2 months about their movement in office (they do talk lot in office hours) & other employees too....but none of them had the dare to come and tell me...it's me when I just cross checked everyone started telling their view point.

Definetly these things distract other attention/concentration as we are having open cubicles to sit .... and our developers has to apply their mind in development/programming.

Shall I tell her indirectly about this ..saying in my past experience so..so..happened & how did I handled....

Thanks,

kevina

hi kevina..

shimit here....

after reading ur problem... i give it thought lil bit and icame 2 a conclusion that is she ur relative??she is just ur emplyee...if she is performing then there is no use in talking to her cz if she is performing and then u will talk with her then definately her moral will go down....and then her performance will go down....

now abt the male employee,....i will react same ...he is not ur relative and if he is giving performance then wat is the thing u need 2 talk...?...if u will talk with the girl or boy or both then they will just ask u...WHO R U TO INTERFARE IN OUR LIFE? then u will be speechless...so its better..not to say nythn....

but u can do one thing that u can talk to the wife of the male employee and tell her that not to tell ur name to her hubby...then everythn will be fine......but i'll not suggest u 2 talk 2 them.....on only one condition i.e. IF THEY ARE PERFORMING....ok but if theyr not then u can directly hav a word with them cz its effecting ur company...ur company's performance.....so did u understand....

dnt wrry evry thng wil be fine...

Dada,
I think this is an official issue being discussed here by Kevina.
I donot agree that its a saas bahu gossip we all are discussing here.
Kindly give it a thought once again.
Dear kevina,
Until unless your work is not hampered, I donot think you can address them. Because workwise they are good.
But yes if their work is being affected ,then its your duty being the HR personnal to address them directly quoting instances rather than following the indirect path.
Be clear and to the point to both the girl and that married guy.
If the situation still persists, you can give them written warning for not following the code of conduct of the company if you have that.
Lastly, people can also be terminated on the basis of misconduct.
Its purely in your hands to handle this situation.
Hope you will be wise to take the right decision.
Take care,
Vineet

Hi,

This happens many a times and is now a days very common. Some girls are by nature very bubbly and attract attention of people easily. So you need to talk definitely.

Call them individually and tell it is none of your business if they are in any way involved with each other out of office premises. But yes, within office, everyone is expected to behave and act in a certain manner. Both of them are acting and behaving in a manner unacceptable as per the laid down company policy on work culture and decorum, other employees have also noticed it, the idea is not to chastise any one but to request to maintain a respectable distance.

You need to speak in a very professional manner, without any emotion, how their conduct is disturbing others. As the HR person threaten them, that if it does not come down within a week then you will have to write a formal show cause on this subject to both of them.

Emphasise that within office everyone is expected to behave professionally. Outside office well, you can't save the world !

So cheer up and just do your duty without any emotional pangs...in every professionally managed company HR has full authority to remind employees about the acceptable code of conduct.

Thanks

Dear kevina,
Yes it is right that you can not impede in the way of others. But if their behavior is hampering the work environment , then you have the full authority to interact. You first talk to their respective Team leaders. Let them aware of the situation and tell them how this is hampering the work culture. Then you can talk to them directly. See what happens. Its true that HR department is not there to punish people, but if you don't take necessary steps right now, then in future it will become more and more problemetic issue for you and your Company.:(
Thanks.

Hi Kevina,
As per my knowledge, there are two things you must do.
1) Simply "DEVIDE AND RULE"
Design their working hour in a manner where one shift he has to work and other shift she has to work and the same for week offs.
2) Make her understnd by providing real life incidents.

hello kevina !
it's a challenge for u . how do you handle tihs sensitive issue without pinching the girl.
many have thrown many ideas. just ask that girl if she is serious about the relationship. if she is serious u can't do anything other than involving the senior to keep their affair outside the door. if she is not serious u can advise her that the behaviour is being observed by many. with this she will definitely change her attitude.
