Dear Everyone, I have been noticing lots of unsatisfied employees in my workplace due to the nature of the job or it might be any other unknown reasons. Well, we cannot do any thing about the job's nature but are willing to motivate the employees through any other means. Kindly suggest me the ways to retain them.

Sybilla12,,

While writing a post in the public forum, you need to give complete information. What is the nature of industry, what is your finished product, where your company is located, how many employees are there, what is your designation, etc

You feel that employee motivation is below the expected level. Have you done any kind of study to measure the motivation. You have written that motivation is low because of the nature of the job. What is the nature of this job is? Is it because repetitiveness? If yes, then what is scope to rotate their jobs?

Last sentence, of your post reads "Kindly suggest me the ways to retain them". Is motivation major problem or retention major problem or both are your problems?

Employees may be well motivated but they quit the company in search of greener pastures. Therefore, in spite of having motivated workforce, retention becomes a problem. In contrast, employees are not motivated, but they do not quit the company either. Therefore, their retention becomes meaningless.

Earlier, I had given exhaustive reply about attrition analysis. Check the following link to refer it:

As far as employee motivation is concerned, earlier I have give two replies. Check the following links:

If you wish to know about employee motivation from academic study point of view, then you may click the following link:

Go through the above links, find out what exactly is your problem, make a action plan, and then come back to us again. Please note that any action plan has to be based on sufficient study of the organisation. Sans the study, motivating the employee may become a wild goose chase.
