Mswc
Respected members, I will be completing my MSWC (master in social work counseling), this yr 2019-2021 June.
Since I want to pursue my Ph.D. too, but it's a long way wish to be monetary independent before I proceed with it therefore
I'm looking for guidance/ suggestions as to how to make this master's degree more valuable. What all can be added with MSWC?

Any course on Psychiatry or Clinical Psychology will be a value addition. More than that, it would be worthwhile considering gaining some practical experience, you may try a chance with any NGO working in related fields.

Dear,
MSWC itself is valuable. Now its upon you how you yourself contribute more to make it more valuable. In my opinion you need to join an NGO immediately to gain more insights of your field which will give you practical exposure. This will enrich your practical experience and you may find your further career path from there only!!!

Dear Friend,

It will be better to take up a job matching to your MSWC and subject decided for Ph.D. It is difficult to say anything concrete without knowing the course of your MSWC, because courses are different in different universities. You consult your professor who can guide and help in better way because university takes number of projects from govt and other agencies.

In my suggestion, there is no need to pursue other degree since you have decided to do PhD, rather do something that can sharpen your specialized subject. You can work on developing software tools which can be used in social welfare field you considered is absent.

Dear Colleague,

It is not informed by you your field of counseling specialization at MSW- Marriage counselling, career, mental illness or like. Also it is not known which career you want to take- teaching, research , freelance counselling or administrative role in some NGO/ Govt.

Depending on your clarity on above, some practical experience of working with some NGO , might be a great value addition.

Persuing PhD, might be more advantageous if want to take up teaching or research.
