Hi...
I am working in a startup company. I require help regarding the probation rules and regulations.
1. Is it possible for every employee to be in probation, starting from the CEO to the executives?
2. Does the employee in probation period has the authority to sign on offer letters or other business deals?
Need information regarding this urgently. Waiting for response.
Thanks and Regards,
SKH

---No, this is not possible. You can not put the Managerial and CEO level staff under probation. Non managerial people(including and below the AM) can be put on probation period.
2. Does the employee in probation period has the authority to sign on offer letters or other business deals?
---No, the employee can not sign any business deals. But the employee can sign on an offer letter.

1. Yes all the positions in the company can be on probation period, unless the CEO is the founder too (and if you want to treat his case as an exception)
2. Once you have appointed some one in the role that demands him/her to be in signining authority, you should not consider he/she being on probation. Because end of the day he/she is performing the role he is expected too.

Hi Nikita,
I dont think it would be a nice option to put a CEO on probation period... It does not meet the business ethics.
Also if the person is a signing authority, especially for business deals (which usually would be a Managerial Level person only), his position in the organisation would totally effect the deal because the organisation can not escape/deny later on that the person was under probation and company can not be held responsible for his decisions.
So, as per my views, senior people should not be taken on probation.

Hi All...
Thanks a lot for the inputs!!!
The CEO is also a member of the board of directors and he is the founder of the company. So as all of you said, it would be inappropriate for him to be on probation.
Could anyone tell me if there is any such kind of rules in law or anything as such for my CEO's reference.
Thanks a ton again!!!
