Hi Friends, Now that the new Maternity benefit act is through, i.e., has to provide 26 weeks of maternity leave, it is fine if the employee is under ESI but for staff whose salaries are more providing 26 weeks of salary with leave is going to be a tough situation for any Organisation.
To make good of the absence of the staff member, somebody has to be newly appointed or somebody has to be given additional responsibility. My question is is such cases is it possible to pay the staff member the basic pay or the ESI eligibility pay for 6 months or the company need to pay full salary with all perks/breakups? Can somebody throw light on this situation please. I am sure, many of our friends want to know about this.
