Hai! Mr.Pankaj Trivedi
I have gone through UAE LABOUR LAWS which you have sent and also I come across another labour law which is called "FEDERAL LAW NO:8, FOR 1980 ON REGULATIONS OF LABOUR RELATIONS".
Both the labour laws(UAE LABOUR LAW & FEDERAL LAW) are same or different.
Please clarify which one is applicable in UAE.

Hi Prabhakaran,
Labor Law in UAE is governed by Federal Law No. 8 of 1980 Regulating Labor Relations, hence both the documents are same.
There had been several amendments in the Act and the same has been mentioned in provided PDF files.

Hi
I have been working for a private company in Abu Dhabi for just over 18 months. The company is currently in financial difficulty and in the last few weeks had layoff staff without prior notice and all layoffs were with immediate effect. Reason - Redundancy. No 30 day notice period was handed to staff members. As I am currently unsure if I will get a notice, as the company is holding back on the staff listed for redundancy. I am of the opinion that this is not to create panic amongst staff members.
My question is what is the policy regarding termination of contract.
Does the company have the right to layoff staff with immediate effect due to redundancy reasons only
What are my rights in this matter, if it should happen to me.
Thanks
