Dear All, One of my colleague is retiring very soon after 33 years of service. We have planned to organise a function to facilitate him. I may have to give farewell speech in his honor. As I am not much familiar with such speech, can any of my friends help me in giving the farewell speech by attaching a file which contents the said speech, besides giving some idea in reply of this mail.
Indeed, I will be grateful to you for such help.
Please treat this a very urgent.
regards
Krishna

Gopalnanda/Krishna - The best speeches are meant to leave all of us speechless! To ensure the speech is well received and that everyone feels good about the function, just go up to the microphone and say
'Goodbye! All the best for your future'

Hi
In any farewell speech, the focus must be on the employee who is leaving.
Ideally you must begin with a short introduction as to why the function is organized and then give a brief update of the person e.g. begin with when the person joined, his job profile, his contribution and possibly also touch upon his education and family background.
Next move on to express your appreciation of his contribution as an employee, a colleague and refer to some personal qualities of the person that were much appreciated by all. Highlight a few facets of the person that were unknown to others e.g. if the person is a good painter/ has a passion for social work etc.
Conclude with warm appreciation for the contribution the person has made, the influence on the functional area in particular and the company in general and why the company and the colleagues will miss the person.
Wish the person all success and invite the senior most person or a very close associate to offer a token of appreciation and love from all.
You can tweak the above to meet your specific requirements.
Best Wishes

But, don’t forget to invite the leaving person to speak and share his experiences, ideas and probable message he may like to give about the organisation to other employees.

Dear Krishna,
Farewell speeches are tailored to meet an individual’s profile.
Build up your speech on the following bullets.
Start with Education.
Experience gained before joining the organization.
Specific contributions to the company.
Different posts held along with responsibilities.
Obvious and hidden talents.
Association with club, social forum, sports etc
As a family man.
His concern for his colleagues.

Dear Gopal,
There are a few suggestions,
1. It may be appropriate to invite his wife, if possible other family members-son(s), daughters and ask them to be on the stage to appear together with the retiring employee;
2. If so say few pleasant things about the wife and other family members, how they are placed and wish them well and very best, good health and present them with bunch of flowers or shawl (being in Bangalore a Mysore turban) ; If need be the wife also can be asked to say a few words, if they are willing and able to speak;
3. Actual words of a farewell speech would depend on the nature of duty and his contribution and if you are eloquent to give good speeches you would know how to make the function memorable one.
4. May be you can include remembering/recalling a particular event or occasion in which the retiring person impressed you all, which may be fitting for the occasion;
5. I hope you would be preparing to present him with a memento or a purse/gift. If so you may add a few words signifying why you chose such a gift which considered most appropriate for him.
6. Also express your sincere apologies for inconvenience, if any caused to him during his service.
7. It may be fitting if you are able to present a cheque of his full and final settlement/gratuity, Service certificate together with a special Appreciation Letter, on the occasion itself and/or if he is eligible for pension or a parting gift from the management, you may present it's orders/gift cheque;
8. It's also very much fitting that few of you can accompany or drop him(them) in your office car at his house and depart after sharing a tea at his house;
9. Also add a few words meaning he shouldn't think he is 'out of office' from the very next day, but always welcome to visit them as much as possible;
10. You might as well host a high tea (if in the evening) or a lunch or dinner followed with a group photo, which copy should be sent to his house nicely framed along with an autograph of your CEO and so on.
I also join you in wishing him all the very best.
