The best and the first, amongst ideas for employee motivation is monetary rewards. A friend of mine was working with a manufacturing unit of a famous razor blade company (no names). In his case, at any point of time, a minimum of one-fourth of your salary would be pending with the company. The company believed, if you hold back the money, the chances of your employees leaving will diminish and in an urge to get the money, they will work harder and longer. Yes, it did happen as they speculated it to happen, but only with negative performances. The company eventually lost out on quality and is now struggling with closure. Holding back salaries and due incentives, will only anger your employees, leading to undesirable performances. Thus, always paying the dues on time, will take your employee performance to higher levels of quality with quantity.

Giving out monetary rewards is one of the oldest, tried, tested and proved employee motivation strategies. Probably, money can't buy everything, but it's true it will buy you employees! Every employee has unique capability and capacity and as an efficient boss, you must understand these capabilities and capacities, to provide your employees with fair monetary rewards. The best way of analyzing work done by employees is through performance sheets and graphs. Employee motivation techniques suggest that recognition of an efficient employee or employees deliver great results. Despite it's advantages, employee recognition is ignored in many organizations. Employee recognition is not just one of the employee motivation ideas, but also a communication tool. Recognition of a worthy employee, shows the attitude of the management towards the employee and the his/her value in the organization.
