Hai,
I am working with an MNC in night shifts, where I have signed bond for 2 years and they have taken all the original certificates from me. Now I have completed 1 year and would like to quit the company. But we need to pay 60,000 to get back the original certificates.
Is it legal to claim our certificates? Can anyone help me out?
Thanks in advance...

No employer has a right to take the original certificate from an employee for what ever purpose. Send a resignation letter along with request letter requesting to hand over original certificate. Even then if they are not ready file a police case against the concerned person.

Thank you for the valuable answer. Not only me, all the employees have signed the bond and submitted the certificates. Some of them already paid 60,000 for the certificates and left the company. Will it be really helpful to take the help of a lawyer or police?
Kindly let me know the process.

Contracts are signed for living up to them, not to be broken at convenience. You should fullfill yours for 2 years, then exit with grace.

Today regarding a case between the Nurses association and hospital management in Supreme court ( case relating to nurses strike in Kerala) the Indian Government has filed a affidavit that the the direction has been issued to all the state government that the bond system should not be enforced in Hospitals. If in hospitals bond system cannot be made then why not in other establishments. I will update regarding the same as soon as I receive the further information.

While respecting the views of Mehrunisa, i still feel that all the terms and conditions of employement were agreed by Bhavya and accordingly taken up the assignment.
Knowing all the policies of the current company, most of the people tend to leave the job because they start getting better opportunities and start quoting all reasons on earth to avoid paying the amount.
To the best of my knowledge, the MNC where Bhavya is working should have taken an acceptance letter from Bhavya to hold the certificates.
I suggest, Ms. Bhavya shall pay the necessary amount and complete the exit formalities smoothly to avoid any incovenience
