I was informed by my manager 2 months ago that i had been promoted. Now 2 months down the line, HR has communicated that the senior manager has rejected the promotion ? What do i do now ? Put in a grevience or wait till i hear from my boss.
The fact of the matter is that i had been briefed before the actual written communication ?

Hi,
Without a promotion letter in hand, it was inappropriate for your boss to tell you that you are promoted. I wonder why you did not think to ask for the letter. A promotion is usually accompanied with a salary hike.
How did you get to know that you haven't been promoted? Did the HR communicate this to you directly? If so, you can definitely approach your boss with your concerns. However, if this information is through the grapevine, I suggest you check with your boss for the promotion letter.
You should also try and find out the reason for not promoting you. This will help you work towards getting yourself ready for the promotion.
Rgds,
Parvati

dear sechelem, sorry to hear abt the plight u have been put into for no fault of yours, never mind ,have'nt u heard of the slip between the cup & the lip.A promotion is confirmed only when in written form thro a letter ,only then can one be sure abt it.Wonder why ur boss conveyed it to u orally? :(

Hi,
I think that you should have firstly asked for a written confirmation regarding your promotion which was communicated to you by your Manager. But now when the case has been rejected by your Manager I think that you should sit with sometime and try to gather the reasons for the rejection of your promotion & try to overcome your areas of weaknesses & try to work as per the standards required so that you can attain further growth .
