Why don’t you do a background verification with his previous employer? Call the HR and mention the persons employee code and designation and please verify the salary.

I have had this experience before and tried reaching the hr of that company. I later learnt that it was forged one. . . and that the person had left the company a year back itself..
A far as the salary slip is concerned, I am sorry, none of us are in a position to help u understand if it’s a fake or real one. The best option is find by calling the company HR (if they don have HR – pls call their accountant), and mention full name, Designation, PF no.

Dear Pankaj,
Just by seeing the pay slip no one will be in a position to say that its original or duplicate one provided by him, it is better to call the concerned person in his previous company and get the details. If you can't, there are many agencies which can help you in this regard. They do background verification for new joiners on a nominal charge.

Dear Pankaj,
I agree with Bipin. He can do what Bipin's suggestion was.
But I want to ask a couple of questions to you.
1. At the time of joining, What type of salary agreement he got as a hard copy from his Organisation.
2. Is there any website for verifying Employee's Salary or let the things know from his seniors how they get to know about it.
3. and How is he calculating the Tax in his organisation.
If he find the answers for the above questions, he can directly come to know that the Salry is fake or original.
Thank you.

Dear Pankaj,
As mentioned by the other members, suggest you do the background check or a employment verification with his previous employer. You need not do the same by involving an agency. You can call or to their HR/ reporting manager or Finance head and check on the details.

Hi Pankaj,

By looking the salary slip, it first gives the impression of salary slip generated by standard software used in corporates but when you look more carefully or you discussed with the person whose company have similar type of account management, He can clearly tell you there is a important thing is missing ,i.e Employee ID. Because if this person's company used fully automated accounting software, then a unique employee ID is must. On the other side if there is some manual interaction then salary slip should be signed by authorised signatory.

Also I want to explain the automated and manual termed used above. In corporates, they have their intranet portal through which they interact to their employees and also maintain their financial & personnel data. In these type of organization because there are large number of peoples in tens of thousands or even lakh, employees themself take the printout of salary slips which are automatically generated & uploded by HR and accounts department on portal at the end of the month. On the other side in the organisation where there are less number of employees and they dont use such a system, there salary slip are generated by HR/accounts department and handed over to employee. Because these salary slip are given by some signing authority hence these are counter signed by the same person.

Also one more thing, this salary slip is in doc format. Normally the automated salary slip are in non editable PDF format file, so that no body can edit it.

By the way, What thing boost you to check the authentication of this salary slip, may be some other thing, it will help other ? Also please do the reference check before coming to any conclusion. We may be wrong and its a matter of someone's career.

Most of the payslips I have come across have these details as well. I found them missing in this doc uploaded :
- Address details of the company (this is generally mentioned in all computer generated payslips)
- Employee Number or code
- Stamp and signature of the authorized person (an automated one)
- Payslips in general are never in a doc format. They are usually sent in PDF so that no one can edit the details
- Days of leave balance
The best thing to do is to call up the HR of the company and do a verification. You need not get a background agency to do it especially if you haven't tied up with one.

Nikita

Hi Pankaj,
You can use the following steps to find a fake salary slip.
  • Check the NTH amount with the Bank statement of the employee for the same period. In case of Cheque payment, Cheque credit amount shown in Bank Statement.
  • Salary slip will have PF No. along with Employer Code. This employer code can be verified with the PF website to identify the company and its contributions.
  • Check the calculation of the PF, ESI, PT etc. many people will make mistakes without knowing the formula.
