An employee has been on CONTRACTUAL appointment on a yearly basis, with a private university. His employment is renewed every year and he continued to serve a total period of 5 years. Is he eligible for payment of the Gratuity, if yes, how much?

Hi,

As per Payment of Gratuity Act, those who have completed service of 5 years in the same company will be eligible for gratuity provided if there is no break in the middle of employment. Gratuity is applicable to all irrespective of regular or contractual employment.
